Former West Virginia quarterback Clint Trickett was set to join the Alabama staff in a “support role” next season.
That’s no longer the case.
Instead, Trickett will join Lane Kiffin’s staff at Florida Atlantic as the Owls’ tight ends coach, according to a report from Football Scoop. Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman later reported the news as well.

Trickett will replace former Alabama offensive analyst Charlie Weis Jr. on Kiffin’s staff. Weis took a job with the Atlanta Falcons, the NFL team announced on Friday.
The new Owls assistant played quarterback for West Virginia from 2013-14 after transferring from Florida State. In 2 seasons, he passed for 4,890 yards, 25 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.
