Fox Sports host Colin Cowherd appears on Fox Sports 1 with his radio show and usually has some kind of hot take to give his listening audience.
Although he makes a bit of a leap about Alabama and why they got into the College Football Playoff, his logic actually plays pretty well here.

“….When Ohio State lost by 30 to Iowa, that is a ‘that will leave a mark’ moment. That’s too catostrophic….You can’t lose by 30 to Iowa, you just can’t. I don’t care about your strength of schedule. Alabama is not losing by 30 to Iowa. I’m so tired of hearing, ‘Colin, winning your conference championship must mean nothing.’ No, it just doesn’t mean everything. Let’s do a little math here. In the fourth year of the committee, we’ve had four teams per year, so of the 16 total teams so of the 16 teams that have ever made this, 14 of 16 have won their conference, 87.5 percent. Winning your conference is a really huge determining factor. It’s not everything, nor should it be….
Remeber the conferences aren’t all even and the divisions within the conferences aren’t all even. Alabama should get in, they would be favored over every other team in this playoff. For the record, if you’re asking me who is going to win today, I’d favor Alabama.”
The other side says Ohio State beat Wisconsin and therefore should get in as a conference champion even though they’re 11-2. The arguement that won out says to put the four best teams in the playoff and in this case it was Alabama because the Buckeyes’ loss to Iowa weighed heavily on the committee.
Agree or not with Cowherd’s take it’s clear he favors the SEC in this moment.
