Scott Meyer, a long snapper from Blessed Trinity Catholic (Roswell, Ga.), on Monday committed to the University of Alabama as a walk-on. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound prospect announced his decision on Twitter.
“I’m blessed and thankful to say that I have committed to play football at the University of Alabama,” he tweeted. “I’d like to thank God, my family, and all my coaches for getting me where I am today. I’d also like to thank Coach Saban, (Tight Ends/Special Teams Coordinator Bobby) Williams, and (Football Analyst Brendan) Farrell for giving me this opportunity. I can’t wait to get to Tuscaloosa and get to work.”
Meyer received offers from Air Force and Army, but opted to join the Crimson Tide. He’ll be in competition with rising senior Cole Mazza, who served as Alabama’s long snapper for the majority of 2015.
