INDIANAPOLIS — Nick Saban led Alabama to its fourth national championship in seven years, and one former Crimson Tide standout is already giving advice on how the team can repeat as champions.
Cyrus Jones told SEC Country what the team’s mentality was for winning a title this past January, and he’s hoping that this year’s squad mirrors what the Tide did last season.
“(They need to) come together as a team,” Jones said at the NFL combine. “Seniors need to step up and take control of the team and set the standard from day one. That was a big thing we did this year. As the older guys on the team — the leaders — we didn’t settle for mediocrity. We didn’t tolerate any nonsense. Everyone was together. We knew what we needed to do to accomplish our goal which was winning a national championship.”
Alabama is listed by multiple betting sites as a favorite to win this year’s national championship.
