Alabama basketball’s future just got a little brighter, and it could get even better by the day’s end.
Collin Sexton, a 5-star point guard from Pebblebrook High School (Mableton, Ga.) has announced his commitment to Alabama on ESPNU. The Tide beat out traditional basketball powerhouse Kansas and N.C. State, Georgia, Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech. Sexton signed his letter of intent and officially part of the 2017 class.

Rated as the nation’s No. 2 point guard and the No. 7 prospect overall in the Class of 2017, Sexton averaged 28.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as a junior at Pebblebrook.
Sexton took an official visit to Alabama in September, and shortly after that trip, he had nothing but good things to say about the Tide.
“I thought it was great. Great atmosphere,” Sexton told Jerry Meyer of 247Sports. “And Coach Avery Johnson – a very good coach – told me how I could fit in the program and how he could help me. Avery Johnson is just great energy. He inherited the team last year, so he couldn’t bring in his players. But he turned players who weren’t doing that well into good players.”
Alabama already has commitments from 4-star power forward Alex Reese, 3-star shooting guard Herb Jones and 3-star center Galin Smith. The Tide are also expected to land a commitment from ESPN 5-star shooting guard John Petty Thursday night. Petty will announce his commitment during halftime of Mae Jemison (Huntsville, Ala.) High School’s game.
