Oh, wouldn’t it be cool to see Alabama play UCF?
For Crimson Tide fans, it would be sweet to witness a possible rout by Alabama, if only to quiet the Knights’ wild “national champions” talk. And you know UCF fans would love a piece of big, bad Bama.
Of course, a matchup between the “true” national champions and the Knights dreamers will never happen. But earlier this week, Bet The Board’s Twitter account relayed word that a potential betting line for an Alabama-UCF matchup would place the Crimson Tide as 21-point favorites. (PayneInsider.com and Todd Fuhrman, a former oddsmaker, were asked to create the mythical line.)

Seeing Alabama as a possible three-touchdown favorite should surprise no one. Sure, UCF had a memorable season. And the Knights should be praised for their 13-0 finish that included a victory against Auburn in the Peach Bowl on Jan. 1. It’s obvious UCF earned respect, and the Knights deserve to be recognized for their memorable run.
But after watching Alabama beat Georgia in overtime on Monday, it’s clear the Crimson Tide would have a significant talent advantage. And don’t underestimate Nick Saban’s ability to drum up the “disrespect” angle as well. (He would have plenty to work with after all the Knights’ talk after the Peach Bowl.)
Making UCF a 21-point underdog against Alabama might be generous.
