The Cotton Bowl is finally upon us. Alabama has waited 364 days to get its shot at redemption in the College Football Playoff, and it will have a tough matchup against a Michigan State team that has found ways to win all season.
SEC Country polled a handful of Alabama commits and targets to get their prediction of the playoff game.
Check them out below:
Markail Benton, five-star linebacker, Phenix City, Ala. (uncommitted): “14-10 Alabama. Both teams have a good defense and both teams run the football well.”
Trey Blount, four-star wide receiver, Atlanta (uncommitted): “Honestly, it’s a toss up. They’re two great teams going at it, two great defenses, so it’s a hard one to pick. I’m just going to enjoy every bit of it.”
Ben Davis, five-star linebacker, Gordo, Ala. (uncommitted): “35-14, Alabama. The defense is going to win it.”
Jake Fromm, four-star quarterback, Warner Robins, Ga. (committed to Alabama): “Alabama is going to win this one, 24-13. ‘Bama’s defense is going to play tough and the offense will control the game.”
De’Jon Harris, three-star athlete, New Orleans (committed to Arkansas): “20-13 Alabama. I think it’s going to be a defensive game. Michigan State has been really good the past few years. I think they’re going to give ‘Bama their all.”
Will Ignont, four-star linebacker, New Market, Ala. (uncommitted): “I’m rolling with the Tide, Alabama, 38 to 17. Defense wins championships. Their front seven is too good.”
Shawn Jennings, three-star athlete, Dadeville, Ala. (committed to Alabama): Alabama wins, 31-17, because they have too much defense.”
Xavier McKinney, four-star safety, Roswell, Ga. (committed to Alabama): “35-7 Alabama because Michigan State is not good.”
Trey Smith, four-star offensive lineman, Jackson, Tenn (uncommitted): “‘Bama will win 35-17, similar to the Georgia game, because I think it’s old school power football. They’ll simply outlast them.”
Isaiah Wilson, five-star offensive lineman, Brooklyn, N.Y. (uncommitted): “I think It’s going to be a very close game. They are two very talented teams that find ways to win. I don’t know who’s going to win, but whichever team does is winning by a field goal.”
If you can’t make it to Dallas for the game, you’ll be able to watch it at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
