No. 1 Alabama is undefeated and heads to Knoxville on Saturday to face No. 9 Tennessee to start the second half of their season. Will they finish their slate without a loss?
ESPN play-by-play broadcaster Joe Tessitore voiced his opinion and gave his College Football Playoff teams when he spoke to the Northwest Arkansas Touchdown Club on Tuesday
Tessitore thinks the seeding will be Alabama, Ohio State, Washington and Clemson.
“I think those four go undefeated,” he said. “I think this is the year that there are no one-loss teams in the playoffs.”
“It will be a heckuva playoff. I think you’ll have a defining moment in Nick Saban’s career. He will get a chance to avenge the Sugar Bowl loss (to Urban Meyer), go for his sixth national championship to tie Bear Bryant. I can’t imagine a bigger game for TV ratings.”
Part of Tessitore’s reasoning included his confidence in the play of Jalen Hurts, the Crimson Tide’s freshman quarterback who has nine touchdowns and two interceptions with a 63.8 completion percentage this season.
I liked his overall composure, what I saw last week. Lane Kiffin was high on him when we’ve talked. I’ve changed my thoughts on Alabama. I thought there would be a point it might go south for them because of quarterback. But I don’t feel that way now.”
Tessitore is in Fayetteville, Ark. this week to call the Razorback’s game against No. 12 Ole Miss. If the Crimson Tide top the Volunteers Saturday, a potential matchup with Texas A&M and two undefeated teams in Tuscaloosa awaits them the following week.
