The University of Alabama’s football program ran out of room for Riley Cole, but the three-star outside linebacker from Oneonta, Ala., will still stay close to home for college.
Cole announced his commitment to South Alabama on Wednesday, three days after the Crimson Tide allegedly asked him to relinquish his 2016 scholarship offer.
“‘Bama talks to me about grayshirting but won’t give me a straight answer,” he tweeted over the weekend. “I have informed them that I have decided to de-commit to find a team that values me as a player.”
South Alabama, a school in the Sun Belt conference, now has seven three-star recruits on board (247Sports.com).
