Former Alabama players John Fulton and Altee Tenpenny played together in Tuscaloosa during the 2013 season.
When Tenpenny died in a one-car accident on Tuesday, Fulton decided to skip the Twitter memorials and took direct action. The South Carolina native launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $20,000 for Tenpenny’s funeral.
“We all knew Altee as a guy that would do anything for anybody,” Fulton tweeted. “Well now is our chance to give back to his family.”
As of Thursday afternoon, more than $12,500 had been raised, with donations coming more and more frequently.
