Sometimes the college football season can hit a lull in late October, especially when Alabama (or another No. 1 team), show signs of dominance that aren’t likely to be matched. That’s what happened this week, with the Crimson Tide on bye, when a caller asked Paul Finebaum a very important question: Who would play the role of Nick Saban in a movie?
Finebaum’s answer was safe, but a classic: Al Pacino.
“In terms of Saban, I have somebody in my mind but I think he’s too old,” Finebaum said. “A 65-year-old Al Pacino would be perfect.”
Alas, Pacino is 77 and possibly aged out of playing 65-year-old Saban. But that’s not the only issue with Pacino: We’ve seen him as a coach before in the movie “Any Given Sunday.” And while he did give a great speech, it would be hard to distance the Saban role from his depiction of Tony D’Amato.
Perhaps another candidate to consider: Kevin Spacey. We know from Spacey’s role as Frank Underwood that he has the focus and determination to make his way to the top. To top it off, Spacey chewing out Daniel Tosh on a regular basis is a scene we all deserve.
