Back in December, it seemed like Alabama was trending a little bit higher with five-star defensive tackle Derrick Brown after he took an official visit to Tuscaloosa. Nowadays, it seems like Alabama’s momentum with Georgia’s No. 1 prospect, per the 247Sports composite, has died off, but he wants to make it clear that the Crimson Tide are still in the race.
“I still like Alabama. They’re still high. That’s championship football,” Brown told SEC Country. “You go somewhere and try to win. You go to Alabama and (almost 100 percent), you’re going to win.”
Alabama is one of five schools duking it out for his signature on National Signing Day. Auburn and Georgia are believed to be the favorites to land him, while Mississippi State and Tennessee are on the outside looking in.
But it may be the other in-state Alabama school that’s gaining momentum the most out of those five schools. Five straight predictions on Brown’s 247Sports Crystal Ball have him heading to Auburn next week. But Brown says no one should read anything into that.
“I feel like people are trying to guess and see where I’m going,” Brown said. “But they’ll see where I’m going (next) Wednesday.”
College football fans everywhere will know which school he picks next Wednesday when he announces his commitment at 3 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
