While many Alabama football players have gone on to find success at the NFL level, one former Crimson Tide linebacker won a championship in a different sport.
On Friday night, former linebacker Eryk Anders, who played a key role on Alabama’s 2009 championship team, won the Legacy Fighting Alliance middleweight championship by defeating Brendan Allen via unanimous decision. The fight lasted five rounds and Anders won 49-46 on all three score cards.

Anders is 8-0 in his MMA career and the fight against Allen was only the second to last longer than one round.
During the 2009 season, Anders finished with 65 tackles 5.5 sacks, 13.5 tackles for loss and 3 forced fumbles. In his final game came against Texas in the national championship, he had a strip-sack and 7 tackles.
