Former Alabama QB Blake Sims cut by pro team
Add Blake Sims to the long list of former Alabama quarterbacks who have struggled to make it in professional football. The CFL’s Saskatchewan RoughRiders cut last year’s Crimson Tide star on Tuesday.
Per AL.com’s Mark Inabinett, Sims worked out for the Packers and Redskins this summer before venturing to the Canadian Football League and signing with Saskatchewan. He did not take a snap with the RoughRiders this season.
Sims was electric for ‘Bama last year, setting a school record with 3,487 passing yards and adding 35 total touchdowns. Last week, we ranked him No. 5 on the list of Nick Saban’s best quarterbacks.
As previously reported, an Alabama QB has not won an NFL start since 1988, when Jeff Rutledge helped the New York Giants take down the New Orleans Saints, 13-12.
