Former Alabama QB Blake Sims is working out for the Atlanta Falcons on Friday, according to ESPN’s Vaughn McClure.
McClure said Sims, from Gainesville, Ga., was working out as a running back. He said Sims worked out with Tampa Bay earlier in the week, and that the former Crimson Tide quarterback has “4-6 other workouts lined up.”
Sims was not selected in the 2015 NFL Draft. He tried out for Green Bay and Washington, and eventually spent some time in the CFL with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Toronto Argonauts.
Sims started at quarterback for Alabama in 2014, throwing for 3,487 yards with 28 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. He also ran for 350 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 4.2 yards per carry. He helped lead the team to an SEC title and a College Football Playoff berth before falling to the eventual national champion Ohio State Buckeyes in the semifinals.
