The third Saturday in October hasn’t been much of a rivalry recently. Tennessee hasn’t won the game since 2006. It’s still one of the better traditions in college football when the winner smokes cigars in the locker room postgame.
Former Crimson Tide running back Derrick Henry is convinced Alabama will do just that.
“I never lost to Tennessee, but I expect it to be a good game,” Henry said. “It always is. That’s a big rivalry for us, and for me, I expect us to be smoking cigars after this game.”
Henry has every right to be confident. Not only did his teams beat the Volunteers in all three seasons he was there, but Henry took home a national championship and Heisman Trophy as well.
He was able to smoke cigars three times, but one iconic photo stands out.
Henry just towers over Saban and his physique is on full display next to his former coach who helped him gain 2,219 yards on 395 carries with 28 rushing touchdowns in 2015.
One thing is certain, if the cigars somehow end up in the visitors locker room on Saturday it would be a massive upset.
