Former Alabama running back Derrick Henry was among those expressing his condolences following the death of former Notre Dame and UAB running back Greg Bryant, who was shot in an incident on a Florida highway early Saturday morning.
Henry shared a picture of himself with Bryant at the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl via Twitter Sunday.

Bryant did not play for the Irish after being ruled academically ineligible for the 2015 season. He announced his intention to transfer to UAB last November.
Bryant’s passing also was mourned by Blazers coach Bill Clark.
“We lost a member of our Blazer family today with the senseless passing of Greg Bryant,” Clark said in a statement. “We were so excited to recruit Greg, welcome him to Birmingham and to UAB football, and get to know him over the past several months. Greg was a very special talent and young man. He always had a smile on his face. While he was with us for a short time — too short — he was a big part of an exciting and historical time for our program and will always be a Blazer.”
