Former Alabama safety Eddie Jackson has signed a deal with the Chicago Bears.
The Bears made the announcement Monday. Jackson was the No. 112 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He had the potential to go higher, but he sustained a broken left leg during a punt return in the Crimson Tide’s victory over Texas A&M last season.
Jackson agreed to a four-year deal. He made 37 starts at Alabama, and he totaled nine interceptions. He also had a school-record 303 return yards.
Details of the deal weren’t released, but it’s likely that little guaranteed money is included. Jackson must still make the 53-man roster.
It will be interesting to see how Jackson performs as a professional. It’s obvious that he has talent, and if he can overcome the health concerns, he has the potential to make an impact.
