Alonzo Ephraim is spending Tuesday evening in an Alabama jail after Jefferson County police arrested him for possession of drugs and firearm charges.
AL.com’s Carol Robinson reports the former All-SEC standout was pulled over in a traffic stop Monday night. When officers smelled marijuana, they searched Ephraim’s car and discovered ecstacy or Molly, marijuana and a pistol the “cooperative” former Crimson Tide player did not have a permit for.
Ephraim has previous arrests in Jefferson County. He was charged in 2010 with possession of marijuana, and that charge was dismissed with conditions. He was charged with second-degree assault in 2011, but that charge was also dismissed.
Ephraim played at Alabama from 1999-2002, then signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2003. His pro career also took him to the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns and the Arena Football League’s New York Dragons. He played his final game in 2008.
