Both Auburn and Alabama have a ton of former players in the NFL. At times, these guys play on the same team. That is the case with the Baltimore Ravens’ Jerraud Powers and C.J. Mosley.
Mosley is one of the most famous defenders to come from Alabama in recent years, while Powers made a name for himself at Auburn.
The two teamed up to seal a victory for the Ravens over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, as Mosley tipped a Carson Wentz pass and Powers swatted it to the ground. Afterward, Powers gave high praise to Mosley.
For Powers, it was a little unusual.
“I don’t really credit a lot of Alabama guys on their play, but C.J. is a hell of a player,” Powers said according the Ravens’ team site. “C.J. had a heck of a game. He had a (tipped pass) and I was over there just in position to finish it.”
Mosley was also complimentary of Powers’ effort.
“Even if I didn’t get a hand on the ball, (Powers) did a great job covering,” Mosley said. “He probably would have got his hand on the ball too.”
The win moved the Ravens to 8-6, tied for first place with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the division. The two teams play next week, in a game that will have huge playoff ramifications.
Of course it wasn’t the first time Mosley has tipped a pass in a big game. Who could forget Mosley getting his hand on Georgia QB Aaron Murray’s pass that ended up sealing the 2012 SEC Championship game for the Crimson Tide?
