Receiving a phone call from New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick can be pretty intimidating. But when you’re former Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback Cyrus Jones, the second-round pick of the Patriots, it’s also pretty amazing.
The Patriots provided access inside their draft war room on Friday night and showed the phone call the team made to Jones to welcome him to the organization. Belichick and New England owner Robert Kraft spoke to Jones on the phone.
Belichick told Jones: “Congratulations, you’re a New England Patriot. Excited to have you. Always good to get another Crimson Tide guy up here.”
Kraft added: “You run back punts, too, eh?”
Jones becomes the third former Crimson Tide player on the Patriots’ current roster along with linebacker Dont’a Hightower and tight end Michael Williams.
