Is the saga of where one of the nation’s top defensive tackles will play college football ending soon?
Raekwon Davis, a four-star defensive tackle from Meridian (Miss.) High School, recently told some reporters that he was committed to Alabama and some that he was committed to Mississippi State. Davis made an unexpected trip to Tuscaloosa this weekend, and after that trip, he told 247Sports.com’s Hank South that he remains committed to Alabama.
To catch everyone up to speed on what you may have missed: Last Sunday morning, Davis told SEC Country through his Twitter account that he had flipped from Alabama to Mississippi State, shortly after being on an official visit to Starkville, Miss. Coach Dan Mullen then tweeted out, through his verified Twitter account, that the Bulldogs picked up a commitment around this time.
A couple of hours later on the phone, Davis told us that he was committed to Alabama. He changed his Twitter bio from ‘Committed to MSU’ to ‘Committed to Bama.’ Davis claims his Twitter was hacked.
It’s still a very fluid situation. But, Davis still plans on taking an official visit to Alabama next weekend before signing his papers on National Signing Day. I still would not count out Mississippi State just yet.
