The University of Alabama led the SEC’s spring academic honor roll for the second consecutive year with 127 student-athletes making the grade.
The Crimson Tide’s rowing team led the way with 36 honors, tied for the most of any SEC team this spring.
The Tide was second among SEC baseball teams with 16, led by Mike Oczypok, who graduated with his MBA in May.
The men’s golf team (seven) tied for second, led by 2017 Southern Amateur Champion Jonathan Hardee. Softball (14) tied for third, led by Academic All-Americans Chandler Dare and Sydney Littlejohn.
Academic All-American Alex Gholston was one of 25 members of the women’s track and field team to earn the accolade, and Academic All-District honoree Payton Ballard was one of 14 members of the men’s track and field squad to earn the honor.
Students must earn a 3.0 or better grade-point average for the preceding academic year or their career. A total of 1,245 SEC student-athletes earned spring honors.
Alabama has placed 270 students on the SEC fall, winter and spring honor rolls.
