Editor’s note: Alabama football returns a ton of talent, and has a great opportunity to make another run at the SEC championship and earn a College Football Playoff berth.
Over the next few weeks, SEC Country will take a look at Alabama’s 25 most important players. Obviously, there’ll be coaches and other key members around the program who’ll have a big impact on the team’s success. But this list is strictly for the top 25 players for the Crimson Tide heading into 2017.
No. 19 Christian Miller
Christian Miller could be the next great sack artist for Alabama football. Miller has the length, speed and explosiveness off the edge to get by offensive tackles. He’s added size and power during the first three years of his career in an effort to become a more complete player.
Last season, Miller earned a role on special teams and played defense mostly at mop-up time, tallying 16 tackles, including 2.5 for loss and 2 sacks, with 4 quarterback hurries.
Heading into his fourth season, Miller is looking to become more of a leader for the defense.
“Vocally is my main area because I’ve always wanted to lead by example,” Miller said in the spring. “I didn’t want to overstep boundaries but now that I’m in a position to step up, it’s been more helpful just to vocally help people learn the system off the field or even just helping them out routinely just to make things better.”
Coming Wednesday: An experienced offensive lineman.
