Jimbo Fisher says the two coaches who will be involved in college football’s biggest game of the opening weekend “have a great time together.”
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the Florida State football coach touched on his relationship with Alabama coach Nick Saban. The Seminoles and Crimson Tide will face each other in a monster showdown on Sept. 2 in Atlanta.
“We’re not big talkers in that way, but we talk,” Fisher told reporters, via the Tampa Bay Times’ Matt Baker. “We have a great time together. We can talk on the phone.
“[When] it’s time to compete, we’ll compete against them.”
Fisher worked for Saban at LSU from 2000-04, serving as the Tigers’ offensive coordinator.
It’s not surprising to hear that Fisher and Saban keep in touch. Still, it will be interesting to watch the field before kickoff of the Alabama-Florida State game to see what kind of chemistry the two men reveal at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
It’s safe to say both Saban and Fisher benefited from their working relationship.
