Add Julio Jones’ catch to the mix as a candidate for catch of the year. The Falcons receiver and former Crimson Tide standout made an improbable reception in the fourth quarter of Atlanta’s game against the New York Giants on Sunday.
With the Falcons pinned on their own 2-yard line, Matt Ryan heaved an ill-advised throw that seemed destined for an interception. But Jones leaped and extended his arms over a Giants defender, deflected the ball with both hands and then came down with the catch.
The Falcons trailed 20-17 at the time and the possession ended with a Falcons punt, but it was nonetheless an incredible effort by Atlanta’s prized receiver.
