Kirk Herbstreit delivered major praise to Alabama and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa after the Crimson Tide’s latest national title. In the process, Herbstreit said Alabama will reach another level with the young signal caller.
On Tuesday morning, the noted ESPN analyst used Twitter to share his thoughts about Alabama’s 26-23 overtime victory against Georgia in the National Championship Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. As part of his compliment to the Crimson Tide, he called Tagovailoa a “UNIQUE talent,” and he predicted the player “will take the Tide to a different level the next couple” seasons.
What a Natl Championship! Congrats to @AlabamaFTBL on winning ANOTHER Title & adding to this 10 yr dynasty! @Tuaamann_ is a UNIQUE talent & will take the Tide to a different level the next couple yrs! Also, congrats to Kirby & @FootballUGA on a great yr as well-Dawgs will be back

It’s hard not to be impressed with what Alabama — and Tagovailoa, in particular —showed against a stout Georgia defense. The Crimson Tide looked lost in the first half with sophomore Jalen Hurts behind center. But Tagovailoa’s downfield passing threat and mobility from the pocket created a new, dangerous dynamic for Alabama’s offense that proved to be the difference. He finished 14-for-24 passing for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns with 1 interception. He also had 27 yards rushing.
We’ll see if Herbstreit’s thought proves to be right. But after Monday night, it’s hard to doubt Tagovailoa’s ability to shine on more big stages in the future.
