TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — After watching Alabama’s A-Day spring game on Saturday, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit offered his opinion on how the Crimson Tide’s quarterback competition looks to him headed into the summer.
One of Herbstreit’s 900,000-plus Twitter followers asked him how he would rank the Tide’s quarterbacks, and he responded with the players’ numbers.
In order, Herbstreit had Cooper Bateman followed by Blake Barnett, and from there listed freshman Jalen Hurts over David Cornwell.
Bateman started the game with the first-team offense (Crimson team) while Barnett started with the second-team offense (White team). Cornwell served as the other quarterback on the Crimson team with Hurts on the White team.
Hurts threw the lone touchdown of the game while Bateman was the only quarterback to throw an interception.
QB stats from A-Day:
Bateman: 9-of-24, 86 yards, interception
Cornwell: 5-of-13, 50 yards
Barnett: 9-of-16, 112 yards
Hurts: 11-of-15, 120 yards, TD
18, 8, 2, 12. That's my opinion. https://t.co/zXwEVuCgpQ
