Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin has made a number of coaching stops over the past decade. But on the eve of the Crimson Tide’s championship game matchup with undefeated Clemson, one moment stands out among the rest for Kiffin.
That would be the last time Kiffin coached for a national title, as a member of Pete Carroll’s staff at USC. The Trojans, led by Heisman Trophy-winner Reggie Bush, came up short against Texas and quarterback Vince Young in the epic 2006 Rose Bowl.
On Monday night, Kiffin gave a shout out to both players on Twitter and revealed just how long it had been since he last had this opportunity.
“@ReggieBush @VinceYoung10 I’ve been waiting ten years and seven days….. #RTR” Kiffin tweeted before the game.
That’s a long time to wait. Perhaps the Tide will help make up for that bitter loss Kiffin and USC suffered all those years ago.
One thing’s for sure, though: The offensive guru sure knows how to make an entrance, as you can see below.
Lane Kiffin is here. And he's wearing stunna shades. https://t.co/1ZJl0wmSrG
