In between helping Alabama prepare for the College Football Playoff and readying for his new job as head coach at Florida Atlantic, Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin penned a letter to FAU season-ticket holders.
In trying to drum up support for his soon-to-be fan base, Kiffin involved legendary head coach Howard Schnellenberger, promised to donate to the school’s scholarship fund and said that fan support would be paramount if the Owls were to make it to a bowl game in 2017.
“I have been fortunate in my past to be at the pinnacle of college football,” Kiffin said in reference to his time at Alabama and USC. “I am aware of the commitment and hard work it takes to develop a championship program. Our team will develop this culture and our commitment will reflect it on the field and in the classroom.”

Kiffin will remain on the Alabama staff throughout the College Football Playoff before heading to Boca Raton.
On Friday, Tide coach Nick Saban announced that Kiffin’s replacement would be Alabama offensive analyst Steve Sarkisian, who replaced Kiffin as the head coach at USC.
Alabama plays Washington in the College Football Playoff on Dec. 31. Kickoff is 3 p.m. ET.
