Ah, here’s a Lane Kiffin-related dream to remember.
Michael Casagrande of AL.com released a fun list of teams Alabama should play in the future. As you might expect, Michigan and Clemson top the group. (We have to admit, a Nick Saban-Jim Harbaugh showdown would be pay-per-view-worthy entertainment.)
But the best of the possibilities? Florida Atlantic.
Yes, AL.com called for a Kiffin return to Tuscaloosa. Below Kiffin’s photo comes this appropriate description: “Seriously, bring Lane Kiffin back to Bryant-Denny Stadium. Make it happen.”
We couldn’t agree more.
Who wouldn’t enjoy seeing Kiffin back where he made magic happen with Alabama as the Tide’s offensive coordinator? Can you imagine the possibilities? Would he dare flip a visor into the crowd? How would Alabama fans greet him?
It would be amazing to watch him try to match wits with Saban after his three-year stay with the Crimson Tide. Kiffin saw up-close what makes Alabama one of college football’s premier programs, and it will be fascinating to see if he can carry those lessons to Florida Atlantic.
Certainly, Kiffin’s Owls would be smashed if they ever played the Crimson Tide. And to be frank, it seems unlikely that an Alabama-Florida Atlantic matchup will ever happen as long as Kiffin remains in Boca Raton, Fla.
But we can dare to dream.
