The College Football Playoff rankings will certainly see change after Saturday’s action. With just two more weeks remaining before the final rankings are released, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit had a shakeup in the final two spots of his Playoff prediction.
- Clemson (11-0, 8-0 ACC)
- Alabama (10-1, 6-1 SEC)
- Michigan State (10-1, 6-1 Big Ten)
- Oklahoma (10-1, 7-1 Big 12)
The next two teams are Notre Dame (10-1) and Baylor (9-1, 6-1 Big 12).
The Spartans and Sooners jumped into the top four with Ohio State and Oklahoma State both losing Saturday. The next two weeks will be filled with constant debating about who should and shouldn’t get the coveted final Playoff spot.
If Herbstreit’s predictions come true, Alabama will find itself facing a Big Ten opponent in the Playoff semifinals for the second straight season. Of course, the Crimson Tide first have to take care of business in the Iron Bowl against Auburn and the SEC Championship game against Florida.
We’ll see how Herbstreit’s selections compare to the College Football Playoff committee rankings when they come out Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
