You can’t joke around about former five-star running backs transferring. Lynn Harris, mother of Alabama running back Damien Harris, learned that lesson the hard way.
On Wednesday morning, Lynn posted the following statement on Facebook, which she has since deleted:
“It is with a very light heart that I announce Damien has decided to leave the University of Alabama and transfer back home to EKU!! I know this may come as a shock to some but hey it is what it is! Everyone who said he was too much of a Mommas Boy to leave…well, apparently you were right!”
She quickly posted a response, saying her initial post was a joke.
Damien Harris, a native of Berea, Ky., was the No. 1 running back in the Class of 2015, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He ran for 157 yards and a touchdown in his freshman year. He and sophomore running back Bo Scarbrough are expected to take over for Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry, who was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans.
