Isaiah Buggs is a 6-foot-5, 280-pound monster of a defensive lineman. But he’s also a fan of the finer things in life, like playing the piano. Apparently, it took his new coach, Alabama’s Nick Saban, by surprise.

While Saban’s wife Terry is very interested in Buggs’ ability to play the piano, it appears Saban himself wasn’t quite sure what was going on based on his humorous reaction in the video and Buggs’ own commentary in the tweet.
But who could blame Saban? Buggs is the nation’s No. 2 junior college player, and he’ll be playing for Alabama in the fall to help bolster Saban’s d-line. Sitting down and eloquently playing the piano was probably the last thing Saban was expecting Buggs to do.
The video also looks like it might have been taken around Christmas time at a holiday party, given the giant tree and decor in the background. Maybe Saban wasn’t in awe and had just hit the eggnog before the show? Toss up. (We’re kidding. Kind of.)
Either way, it speaks to Buggs’ dedication, well-rounded nature and mental capacity that, even as such a large human who is talented enough to play Division I football for the best program in the country, he can excel at something as fine as playing the piano.
That’s a gift Saban certainly will have been happy to unwrap.
