Editor’s note: Coming off its fourth national championship in seven seasons, Alabama returns a ton of talent, and has a great opportunity to repeat as champions in 2016.
Over the next few weeks, SEC Country will take a look at Alabama’s 25 most important players. Obviously, there’ll be coaches and other key members around the program who’ll have a big impact on the team’s success. But this list is strictly for the top 25 players for the Crimson Tide heading into 2016.
13. Robert Foster
Foster is high on this list strictly because of his potential. The former 5-star prospect appeared to be heading toward a breakout campaign last year, but a freak shoulder injury cut his season short after just two and a half games.
Foster caught two touchdowns in the two full games he played before going down against Ole Miss.
Foster has elite ability. He’s a game-changer at wide receiver and could be an X-factor for this offense. A lot of attention will be placed on Calvin Ridley, and rightfully so, but that could allow Foster to see one-on-one matchups on the outside.
Foster, Ridley and ArDarius Stewart make up one of the most talented receiver trios in the country.
Heading into his fourth year on campus, Foster will be eager to put his talents on display for the team and possibly improve his NFL future.
This spring, Foster wore a black, non-contact jersey to protect that shoulder. But he was full-go in the scrimmages and during the A-Day spring game. In Alabama’s second spring scrimmage, Foster made four catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns.
“He’s done everything that everybody else is doing — running all the routes, learning. He’s playing with a lot more confidence and has got a better knowledge of the position.” — Nick Saban on Foster returning from injury
