Alabama’s chances of landing the nation’s top athlete have just improved.
Mecole Hardman, Jr., a five-star prospect from Elbert County High School (Bowman, Ga.), tells SEC Country that he will no longer take an official visit to TCU on Jan. 22. He will now visit Alabama that weekend. If you recall, Hardman surprised many just last week when he named Alabama his leader. Most believed Georgia was his leader behind the scenes.
The 5-foot-10, 169-pounder received an in-home visit from Nick Saban and Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt Thursday night before heading off to Columbus, Ohio, for an official visit to Ohio State this weekend. Because of his participation in the USA vs. Canada game on Jan. 29, he will not be able to get in a visit right before National Signing Day like many other top prospects. It’s very possible that the Alabama visit will be his last before he makes a decision.
For those Alabama fans keeping track, this is the list of guys SEC Country has confirmed will be in Tuscaloosa on Jan. 22: Nation’s No. 1 WR Tyler Vaughns, Nation’s No. 1 OLB Lyndell Wilson, five-star DE Jeffery Simmons, five-star OL Landon Dickerson and five-star OLB Mique Juarez.
Hardman will announce his commitment on National Signing Day.
