Jennifer Coney, the mother of five-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary, told SEC Country Tuesday night that she and her son will take his final official visit to Clemson instead of Alabama this weekend. The Crimson Tide were hoping to host Gary this weekend and looked to be in good shape. Coney told SEC Country earlier in the week that Gary was leaning toward visiting Alabama.
Now, it looks like they could visit Alabama after all.
Coney told Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports that they will still visit Clemson and they are figuring out a way to visit Alabama, too. The pair could visit Clemson Friday and Saturday and then head to Alabama Saturday night and spend Sunday there.
“That’s pretty much what the plan may be,” Coney said.
“We’re definitely going to Clemson first. That’s the guarantee. If we were able to make it to Alabama we do, if we don’t we don’t. Rashan wants to go to Clemson. He wants to go to Alabama too but he said most importantly he wants to go to Clemson.”
The nation’s No. 1 player will be in Atlanta Thursday picking up his award for the Touchdown Club of Atlanta’s top defensive lineman.
He’ll announce his commitment on National Signing Day. Right now, Michigan is thought to be the favorite to land him.
