What are the NFL draft possibilities for Reuben Foster?
The Alabama linebacker continues to impress as a leader of the Crimson Tide’s defense. The senior had four tackles and one sack in Alabama’s victory over Tennessee on Saturday at Neyland Stadium.
Gil Brandt, a former vice president of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys who now writes for NFL.com, shared revealing thoughts about Foster’s future after Alabama’s latest win:
Alabama’s Reuben Foster is a good linebacker and he really hustles, as he showed again on Saturday against Tennessee. Inside linebackers aren’t valued in the NFL like they used to be. Foster might have been a top-10 pick 15 years ago. Now, he’s shaping up to be a pick in the middle or late part of Round 1.
It will be interesting to see what comes of Foster. The mid-to-late first-round prediction seems a bit low. After all, the Carolina Panthers took Luke Kuechly ninth overall in 2012. Brandt’s take doesn’t seem to be a hard-and-fast rule.
Much remains to be determined before the NFL draft. But it’s a safe bet that Foster has a chance to provide major value for any franchise that takes him.
