Former Alabama defensive back Nick Perry was quick to scold FOX Sports’ Skip Bayless.
In the third quarter of the national championship game on Monday, Alabama linebacker Ryan Anderson forced a fumble that led to a field goal by Adam Griffith that gave the Crimson Tide a 17-7 lead. Afterward, Anderson was seen on the sideline hoisting the belt below, captured by Yahoo Sports’ Dr. Saturday:

Bayless, who’s known to be controversial, tweeted his displeasure that Anderson was holding the belt. He took it as a sign of disrespect toward Clemson.
Tide passing around the championship belt on the sideline??? Clemson see that?

A short time later, Perry corrected Bayless, pointing out that the belt was known as a “turnover belt.” After all, the belt is nothing new. Perry offered a pointed message to Bayless, saying, “Do your research.”

Kudos to Perry, whose final season at Alabama was in 2014, for setting the record straight. It seems logical that he would stick up for his teammates here.
