Nick Saban: Alabama safety Hootie Jones will be out for playoff semifinal vs. Clemson
Sunday is mostly about good news for the Alabama Crimson Tide, as they snuck into the College Football Playoff and will face off against top-ranked Clemson in the semifinals. But it’s not all good news.
In an interview with ESPN on the College Football Playoff selection show, Nick Saban provided an update on starting safety Hootie Jones, who sustained a knee injury in the Iron Bowl. Unfortunately, according to Saban, Jones will not be able to participate in the upcoming showdown against Clemson, as relayed by SEC Country’s Marq Burnett:
Nick Saban said Hootie Jones (knee) will be out for the game.
Saban said other guys should be healthy by the time the game comes.

However, as noted in that tweet, Saban expects his team to be much healthier overall, especially at the linebacker position. With that said, the Crimson Tide secondary will need to be on its game against Clemson and its talented receivers. We will see how much Jones will be missed.
