Oklahoma players “needed to find some protein shakes” after meeting “big” Alabama stars
There’s a chance Alabama and Oklahoma will meet for the national title on Jan. 11. That gives Sooners players a full month to beef up.
ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported that the Big 12 champions are feeling a little undersized after meeting a trio of Crimson Tide stars on Thursday.
“Those guys are big,” quarterback Baker Mayfield said. “It’s a different animal, that’s for sure.”
Center Ty Darlington said he needed “to find some protein shakes.”
Alabama defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson, running back Derrick Henry and linebacker Reggie Ragland are all in Atlanta to take part in the College Football Awards on Thursday night.
The Tide will face Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl national semifinal Dec. 31.
NOTE: The original version of this story said Mayfield was a Heisman Trophy finalist. He is not a Heisman Trophy finalist.
