Clemson fans are riding high after last season’s national championship over Alabama. So much so they’re feeling brash enough to compare their head coach to the Crimson Tide’s decorated leader.
Well, you know Paul Finebaum isn’t having any of that.
When a Clemson fan called into his radio show Friday with the hot take that Dabo Swinney is now on the same level as Saban, Finebaum fired back with basic math as his counterargument.
247Sports has the complete audio of the exchange.
“How can you put Dabo in the same sentence as Nick Saban,” Finebaum said. “Who died and made Dabo Swinney the greatest coach of all-time? He’s got one national championship, OK? I don’t understand this. Since when did Clemson become the it school in the universe? I’ve never heard a more intoxicated fan base in my life.”
Finebaum added Clemson fans need to “Quit talking like you own college football.”
Clemson’s national title was its first since 1981. Meanwhile, Alabama has racked up four national titles (2009, 2011, 2012, 2015) in the Nick Saban era.
