Alabama has landed its second commitment of the day and one who certainly will resonate with the fan base as Paul Tyson, a 4-star quarterback from Hewitt-Trussville High School (Trussville, Ala.), has chosen to play for the Crimson Tide.
Tyson is the great-grandson of legendary coach Bear Bryant. He is the No. 7-ranked pro-style quarterback in the nation, according to the 247Sports composite.
“It really is an honor just knowing that I can be a part of that because of who my great-grandfather is,” Tyson said in an interview with SEC Country. “Walking down the halls where the coaches’ offices are means a lot to me because my great-grandfather coached there. I love that because it pushes me, even more, to work harder. I want my name to be as big and next to my great-grandfather’s somewhere. I want to be like him one day.”
Tyson is the Tide’s sixth commitment in the 2019 class. And what a big commitment this one is for Alabama. The Crimson Tide didn’t sign a quarterback in the 2018 class, and now they have one who no doubt will sign with the team when it comes time to make his decision official.
Tyson is also teammates with 5-star tackle Pierce Quick, who is locked in with Alabama. Both Tyson and Quick will now turn their recruiting efforts toward getting 5-star center Clay Webb on board.
