A famous caller from the Paul Finebaum Show had plenty to say after Alabama’s loss.
Phyllis, a passionate Crimson Tide fan from Mulga, Ala., who has given epic rants on the show, called in Tuesday to speak with Finebaum and give her take on the Crimson Tide’s 35-31 loss to Clemson in the national championship game Monday at Raymond James Stadium.
Overall, she was complimentary of Clemson. The Tigers overcame a big second-half deficit to hand Alabama its first loss of the Saban era when it led by double digits entering the fourth quarter. The result foiled the Crimson Tide’s bid to win a second consecutive national title.
Still, she had sharp words for Finebaum, who was pushing her to be dramatic with his give-and-take.
“It’s not the end of the world for Alabama,” Phyllis told Finebaum about the result. “My God! Give Alabama some credit!”
A short time later, Phyllis went back to praising Clemson.
“You worked for it,” she said. “You earned it.”
