Alabama defensive lineman Da’Ron Payne reportedly is headed for the NFL.
On Wednesday, AL.com’s Matt Zenitz reported that Payne will enter the NFL draft. The 6-foot-2, 308-pound player had 53 tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception as a junior during the Crimson Tide’s national championship season. Alabama beat Georgia on Monday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Payne had 8 tackles and 1 interception in Alabama’s victories against Clemson in the Sugar Bowl and Georgia in the National Championship Game during the program’s run through the College Football Playoff. Earlier, running back Bo Scarbrough and wide receiver Calvin Ridley also declared for the NFL draft as part of the developments for Alabama.
