Alabama reserve defensive lineman LaBryan Ray is the latest Crimson Tide defender to be sidelined with a serious injury.
According to a report from 247Sports, Ray broke a bone in his foot on Thursday and had surgery to repair the injury on Friday morning.
Ray has contributed sparingly as a freshman this season, compiling 5 tackles, 2.5 for loss, and a sack. He’s a former 5-star recruit from Madison, Ala.
Ray’s status doesn’t impact Alabama’s starting lineup, but it does take another chunk out of the Crimson Tide’s depth.
He joins fellow defenders Christian Miller, Terrell Lewis, Shaun Dion Hamilton and Mack Wilson as players who are either out for the season or have missed a significant amount of playing time.
Alabama hosts Mercer this weekend before taking on Auburn in the Iron Bowl on Nov. 25.
