Lane Kiffin is being rewarded for his success in Tuscaloosa.
The Crimson Tide offensive coordinator received good news on Friday when the Alabama Board of Trustees approved a raise and short extension of eight months, according to AL.com’s Michael Casagrande.
Kiffin, who is in the final year of his contract with the Tide, will be paid $1.4 million between July 1, 2016 and Feb. 28, 2017, per Casagrande. This matches the market price for such a high-profile coach after Alabama avoided paying the market price for Kiffin because of severance payments from his time with Southern Cal, according to the report.
The raise now makes Kiffin Alabama’s highest paid assistant coach.
The offensive coordinator previously made $680,000 in his first two seasons with the Tide and $714,000 last year after signing a three-year deal in 2014.
