Consider the quarterback battle decided.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Blake Barnett will start at quarterback for Alabama in its opening game against Southern Cal, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of AL.com.

Barnett competed with Cooper Bateman and true freshman Jalen Hurts for the starting job. Alabama coach Nick Saban stayed tight-lipped throughout the battle and declined to officially name a starter at the final media availability before the game.
Barnett is a former 5-star prospect from Corona, Calif. He has yet to throw a pass in a college football game after redshirting last season. He replaces Jake Coker, who led the Crimson Tide to a national championship last season.
