It was first reported that Thomas was leaving Alabama on Wednesday. Thomas was the No. 11 outside linebacker in the class of 2015 according to 247Sports Composite rankings. According to Matt Zenitz of Al.com, Thomas hopes to transfer back to a bigger school by January.
Thomas committed to Alabama over Florida in high school. He also held offers from Georgia, Auburn and South Carolina. Thomas’ primary recruiter at Alabama was Kirby Smart, who is now the head coach at Georgia.
Thomas will have two years of eligibility left. He redshirted in his first year with the Crimson Tide, as he sat behind the likes of Tim Williams, Reuben Foster and Rashaan Evans.
