Lane Kiffin reportedly wants to bring a fellow Alabama assistant to be his offensive coordinator at Florida Atlantic.
Kiffin plans to hire Alabama offensive analyst Mike Locksley to come with him to Boca Raton, according to FootballScoop. Kiffin is also reportedly hiring his brother, Ole Miss defensive line coach Chris Kiffin, as his defensive coordinator.
The Owls hired Kiffin as their new head coach Monday. He will remain on staff at Alabama through the College Football Playoff. Locksley was reportedly one of Alabama’s top candidates to replace Kiffin as offensive coordinator. The Crimson Tide’s other top choices are reportedly offensive analyst Steve Sarkisian and wide receivers coach Billy Napier.
Locksley served as the head coach at New Mexico from 2009-2011. He was Maryland’s offensive coordinator from 2012-2015. He became Maryland’s interim head coach in 2015 after the firing of head coach Randy Edsall. This season was his first on Alabama’s staff.
Alabama plays Washington in the College Football Playoff semifinal in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 31.
